財團法人天主教會台中教區本著天主博愛的精神，發揚耶穌基督無限寬廣的愛，自民國70年起陸續於台中市、彰化縣、南投縣設立八家身心障礙福利服務機構，提供身心障礙者家庭、照顧訓練等專業服務，默默支持這群『慢飛天使』。        

慢飛家族是天主教會台中教區附設八家身心障礙福利機構對外窗口，透過『資源共享』方式，幫助偏鄉地區機構取得資源，為慢飛天使提供更優質的服務。  

慢飛家族成員：  

1. 台中立達啟能訓練中心  
2. 台中慈愛智能發展中心  
3. 彰化慈愛殘障教養院
4. 鹿港聖母聖心啟智中心
5. 員林聖家啟智中心
6. 溪州聖智啟智中心
7. 埔里復活啟智中心
8. 竹山玫瑰啟能訓練中心  

Some children are "slow" in their life journeys, and we call them "slow-flying angels". (They are called "special needs" in the US.) Since 1980, Roman Catholics Diocese of Taichung has set up and maintained eight special-needs training centers in Taichung City, Changhua and Nantou County. These centers support the slow-flying angels by providing them with a continuum of professional programs and services such as day- and night-care, training, and special education.    

Since the priests and the sisters retired, donations from abroad have halved. For that reason, the Diocese set up Family of Slow-Flying Angels. Family of Slow-Flying Angels is an association of these 8 special-needs training centers. Its mission is to help rural special-needs training centers to obtain resources and better cater to those with special needs.  

The 8 special-needs training centers are as followed:  

1. St. Coletta's Training Center for Special Needs in Taichung City    
2. Tsz-Ai Mental Development Center in Taichung City  
3. Tsz-Ai Mercy Hospice at Changhua County  
4. Immaculate Heart Training Center for Special Needs at Lukang Township, Changhua County  
5. Holy Family Training Center for Special Needs at Yuanlin Township, Changhua County  
6. Holy Wisdom Training Center for Special Needs at Shichou Township, Changhua County  
7. Resurrection Training Center for Special Needs at Puli Township, Nantou County
8. Holy Rosary Training Center for Special Needs at Chushan Township, Nantouch County
